Growth May be Optional, but Change is Inevitable

Our sweet grand-baby, Reagan Paige Brantley

I'm in the midst of change, once again, and the business known as Elements Salon, will be affected by these changes. I think it a good thing that I love change. It's such an improvement (most of the time), in day-to-day experiences as we navigate our life's story.

In 1978, the business began & grew, in a country setting, then evolved in 2002, to bigger and more expressive details that lined up with a spa-like atmosphere as it moved into the city, and back again in 2012, to new beginnings half way across the United States. We've had our fair share of change as my personal life continues to change.

I recently read an article about change and why businesses fail as they navigate the inevitable. The two reasons that stood out to me were as follows:

  • Lack of compelling reason to change. Even the best plan must be accompanied with a great story to support it. Your story should build a bridge between today’s challenges and a brighter tomorrow.
  • Throwing out the baby with the bath water. Changing everything rather than identifying those things that must change to meet new business objectives creates unnecessary havoc. Identify what you should start, stop, and keep, and then plan your changes accordingly.

Well...I have a GREAT story that involves my family...just like the story of wanting to be closer to our daughters that moved us to North Carolina. Today, my story involves another family member. And she certainly does build a bridge between today's challenges and a brighter tomorrow. She is my grand-baby. This promises to be a memorable time in our lives. Our daughter will be heading back to work and has allowed me the honor of watching over her most prized gift...our grand-child. Who else would love this baby and care for her, like a grandma would? No-one. Right?

Not wanting to throw the start-up business out, I've decided to rise to the challenge of balance. I began with the faithful clients I now have, asking if their schedules would accommodate the change. Everyone was on board! YAY! Thank you!

Here are the new hours, beginning May 2nd, 2016:

  • Tuesday Evening: 6pm - 9pm
  • Wednesday Evening: 6pm - 9pm
  • Saturday: 9am - 6pm
  • Sunday: 3pm - 6pm (2nd & 4th Sunday of the month...flexible hours & possibly every Sunday if needed)

I will also consider more evenings if the schedule gets too full. All appointments will have to be by appointment only.

Please don't hesitate to call, or text 918.533.7874, if none of these days work for you. I will do my best to work with your time-table. I appreciate your trust.
